Our first Christmas in Argentina - 2009 ...continued

As we were 'alone' for our first Christmas Eve, Brad thought that it might be a good idea to go out and have a Christmas Eve Dinner in a restaurant. We have a really old fashioned place 1 block from our apartment. Most of the staff and the regular patrons look as if they have either been working there or been eating there since the place opened, probably 40 years ago.... so I really wasn't looking forward to the evening. As Brad had made the effort of booking and doing something special I got all dressed up and we went down for our booking. Our reservation was for 8.30pm which for Argentine time is so bloody early, generally nothing happens before 10pm. So here we were sitting at our table in a 200 seater resaurant, the only people in the whole place, except for the waiters in their waistcoats and 'dickie bows'. The next couple to arrive were so old, we doubted that they would live to see midnight. I thought F..... this is going to be fun!!! and our waiter poured us an ice cold glass of champagne and brought us a wonderful plate of assorted canapes.... Brad and I glanced at each other, smiled and said what the hell, we're here now lets just enjoy - and enjoy we certainly did! The restaurant filled up, the champagne kept flowing, the plates of food kept coming and the whole place was a buzz. The oldies were enjoying themselves and as the minutes slowly approached midnight we all breathed a sigh of relief - they, like Cinderella had made it to the bewitching hour!!
Just before the clock struck midnight, the waiters brought around "goodie bags" filled with crazy hats and whistles and other grand party items. We all got dressed up, did the count down, wished everyone Merry Christmas, and then the DJ started and a full dance party started.
At about 2.30am when the staff started resetting the tables and our 4th bottle of champagne was finished, we decided to call it a good party and go home.

First to arrive and last to leave..

Merry Christmas everyone!!!
